WHY WE PREFER TO COOK OUR OWN MEAL FOR BERBUKA

Assalamualaikum.
Hello peeps. May we all have a bless Ramadhan. Only 12 days left for this holy month that is full with barakah.

(Muttafaq ‘alaih)

Yes, that is very true, especially the later. It is our ultimate hope that all our ‘amal will be accepted by Allah. Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing(Al-Baqarah:127)

And for the former; kegembiraan  ketika berbuka? Berbuka is indeed the awaiting moment for those who fast. Some prefer to cook, some would go to bazaar, some choose iftar at masjid, and once a while we would want to pamper ourselves in nice restaurant or ramadhan buffet.

Anyhow, this is my bazaar ramadhan story. Up until today, we only went to bazaar 2 times (one near Selayang mall, the other near selayang stadium). And it was a total disaster. After a long and tiring day, and it so happened that that day u gotta lot of patients, and most of it are counseling cases, plus it was so hot that day, all u want is a decent meal. Yes I am clearly aware that is it is all dugaan ketika berpuasa so we need to bear with it, no complaint. But after a long stroll at the bazaar, fighting to mengurus your nafsu makan when choosing the foods that all of them ‘appear good’, and the moment u put it inside ur mouth, boom! Heartbroken.

We bought nasi kerabu once –the ulam2 dah almost basi. Popia sira –the filling was nothing but taugeh (yg dah hitam2 tu). Popia basah –the same as the popia sira. Yes it is very true that our Prophet SAW said that when u don’t like a food, don’t mentioned it outloud, tak baik menghina makanan. But please, please, please food hawkers. Please make a more decent meal. Don’t only long for big money and put aside the quality of ur foods. When it comes to taste, I can still compromise, as our taste preference is difference, some would love a sweeter ayam percik, some would prefer spicier. However when it comes to quality of the foods, I really couldn’t take it. Come on la, orang beli makanan u untuk berbuka peeps, berbuka! Ikhlas la sikit bila berniaga tu. How could u sell a very bad quality foods to orang puasa. Tak berkat tau. Tak baik.

Hihi that is why we prefer to cook. Although it is a very simple meal –as simple as ayam goreng and sayur lemak kobis, we’ll be satisfied. No complaints, no broken heart, no ‘rasa-nak-nangis-makan-makanan-x-sedap’.   My favorite our own cooked meal so far was nasi lemak (tq tq tq kak elly sedap gile) and mee goreng + cucuq udang. The bestest! The other meal like masak lemak cili api udang, tomyam ayam, ayam masak merah, etc are great too. Beronok-ronok seronoknya hihi
.
Anyway, what I am trying to say is that if we have time, just cook our own meal. Not only that we have decent meal, but also we can control our nafsu makan (ye la when u look at foods at the bazaar all appear appetizing and u start to buy more than u need), and of course, prepare healthier meal (err in our case not that healthy kot huhu). And no, I am not against all food hawkers at the bazaar. Some sell really good foods, and I much appreciate it.

Thank you for those who prepare good foods up till this 17th ramadhan. And that include my lovely mak, my sister kakni, housemate kak elly and jun, and restoran asam pedas and restoran bumbu desa (omg their foods are great!).
makanan berbuka that i brought from home couple of week back: ikan patin bakar tempoyak, roti jala and kuah durian, popia goreng. sayur campur and kari ayam tu cikjun masak
p/s selamat berpuasa. Tinggal berapa hari je lagi. Sad that ramadhan is leaving. Smg dpt tingkatkan amalan dan smg amalan diterima, amin.

p/s 2: hari ni saya masak ikan kembong goreng berlada (but it was a bit dry) and sayur lemak labu (mula2 keras, nasib baik kak elly tlg selesaikan masalah). Sory kak elly dan jun :(
